songs aren't ment to be understood. they're meant to be felt. the lyrics are just inhancements to the song. it doesn't matter what they're saying. it just matters that it should gives you a good feeling when you listen to it

Tool lyrics are not supposed to "make sense" (which, apparently, means "present a coherent and easily understood narrative"). They're intended to provoke reflection and thought, like the music itself.
